On May 14th, famed journalist and author Deaglán de Bréadún, and retired Irish Times journalist Andy Pollak, conducted a workshop on the history of conflict in Northern Ireland and the emergence of Sinn Féin. 20160521_114058This was followed on May 21st by Kevin Kenny’s presentation on the history of the three major political parties in Ireland – Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and Labour. Finally, Dublin Bay South TD and recently appointed Fianna Fáil Justice and Equality spokesperson Jim O’Callaghan gave a behind-the-scenes look at Irish politics.

As newcomers to Ireland strive to be advocates on the issues that most affect their well-being, being able to skilfully navigate the local context and forming valuable alliances with concerned locals can only serve them well.20160528_130533
